A book, some thoughts, truths or truths means, all that is certainly debatable and can provide autobiographies, at least (Vol II former President Aznar book). It also serves to dwell a little on the essentials.
The truth is that, it is not easy to make the big choices in politics, as in any transcendental field, because it affects millions of people. And for a long time in Europe (especially after WWII) decisions, major decisions, go through which is the position on the United States of America. And this above all is irrespectived of who the president is, although personality has its influences, for a 8 years period.
Some European countries since 1945 have been "nothing Europeans" as UK, and I think never will be. Others have wanted to pay the actions that led to the fall of the Berlin Wall, saying thanks very much. Others, great historical powers,as France and Germany, have been primarily to their own, with their traumas, limitations and dreams. Meanwhile, it has been tried to build a united Europe, a European Union, which it has sometimes worried the transatlantic link in Washington D.C., until the Americans realize that is much ado about nothing.
And nations, the size of Spain, like all in those years, have sought to balance interests and political moment.
So decisions Europeans have been very pro-American or anti-American. Some of these decisions have been affected by the weight of the Paris-Berlin axis. All that could be called political inputs, situations or personalities.
The worst thing is not to break ties with U.S., away from the Atlantic link, a new stage, the important thing was, is and will be, Quo Vadis Europe?
Lukewarm movements can not be made based on initiatives from France or Germany, their leaders or interests. These actions favor the UK point of view that remains smiling and saying in the Commons: " Business as usual ".
It might be possible if there was a project that meant a European Union capable of offering alternatives, this means ceding sovereignty. I do not know if the "big nations" are ready.
Do not get angry, please.
