In the New York Times today, at least the digital edition, there is an article entitled " A referendum for Catalonia "with the signature of the president of the Generalitat. It is an editorial opinion, I do not know if you have to pay a few dollars to be in the papers. The regular American, who reads it, will form his opinion on the topic and compare it with ....I do not know. Although it doesn't matters much. He/she will not investigate the History, not checking. And he/she think, Spain what a country!
Of the many paragraphs, there are two dedicated to History. One is about a version of History from the early years on the peninsula. The shorter one on the times of the previous Head of State. Catalonia has always been oppressed, subjected, vilified, according to this article. It calls for justice in a distorted version of the facts.
The conclusion of the writing is looking to have more control over the economy, politics and social services.
And for that they must become independent? Just when they have the better conditions for an autonomous government, they want to break it? There is no responsible common sense in both capitals? Is not there any another solution?
It is very difficult, because it has been created an irrational hatred of the Spaniards, anything smelling Spaniard.
Funny, right after 1975, it has increased exponentially the rejection of any Spanish aspect, in many people of Catalonia. In the rest of Spain nobody hates Catalonia.
What is expressed it is an irrationality. I will be no Spanish and that means in a direct way that you want to be from Catalonia. It is not allowed to be there Catalan-Spanish, you will be also excluded. You have to hate Spain, without knowing why. It is a feeling, not a reason. Bad business to build a nation in that way, over hatred and irrationality.
People born in 1975 is 38 years old now. They only heard insults and protests against Spain in any event, in any area where the only important thing is me, me, me. My village, my language, my culture, my all that sounds like that. It doesn't matter that we are living in 2013, the globalization era. It is not worthy the History because it has been learn in a different way. Apparently always under a central power. Slavery is intolerable chains that must be broken And then what? Those who ask the question are not good Catalonia people.
The frustration comes to chat rooms, coffee shops, newspapers, on the street. It doesn't look good. They talk about democracy, free choice of the people, how many? In this way, same procedure, came to power the short man with a little mustache, elected by the people.
A little of common sense would be very much appreciated.
