The Hispanic useless (for English speaking people).

I try to understand the spirit of the regular Hispanic, especially in these times of globalization and economic distress, worry and bad separatists winds. Time of destruction not only of employment. I do not know if we have a definite spirit, being already a human being with centuries behind.

I guess how we are perceived from outside, especially by those who speak our language, because in English we are not usually understood. In a somewhat superficial world certainly very selfish and hedonist.

We give the impression of having little feeling for working, lack of seriousness, corrupt country, love cheating, living a permanent party, cheerful and frivolous; fickle, lazy and conformists. Believing that others are less smart. Lack of resolve and commitment to solve our real problems, concentrating in fighting the absurd. We are not considered reliable. They do not take us seriously, except Rafa Nadal or another individuality. 

In the last decade we have recovered all these very negative opinions and topics.

Is it true? Are they fair assessments? How do we react?

The Hispanic does not like to be corrected, that some one appeals to you (probably a very human reaction). Spaniards are proud people.

Suddenly we realizes that others may be right. We come down, we crumble and react saying that we are happy and others are not. That life is something else. That when someone takes a relaxing cup of coffee here reaches an intimate and glorious transformation.

What should be the reaction? How to improve without losing personality, idiosyncrasy? How to change the image?

Those of a certain age die hard. The young people (and I don't mean the people who media calls young and they are going to be forty) are the key. They must learn to be self-critical without becoming depressed. Facing reality without complexes. Fighting with courage and spirit without a need to be invaded. To put the world by storm, from time to time, though the bull fighters are going to be banned  everywhere. To go through life without fear, because we are not the worst.
