The maze of mediocrity (for English speaking people)

The objective is to have clear objectives in any activity. Occasionally there are  bright and crisp. In any election, to many, the goal is just to win the majority, why? To do what? That, it does not seem essential.
In a soccer tournament the aim is to win, why? You have to be the champion, nobody remembers the second. All that matters is winning.
In everyday life, routine, the objectives are more difficult to define.
Then there is the matter of how each win, the character of everyone. At Any Cost? Does it produce such satisfaction the fact itself of winning? Winning an Oscar, a Nobel Prize, the top.
What is really important?
I remember a Spanish businessman with big money, who was appointed Foreign Minister and said: "I have reached the pinnacle of my political career".
What? Being  a minister is the top? To do what? I found it so extremely pathetic than I thought, he should be removed, immediately ! Of course the President of the Government thought he was the real Minister of Foreign Affair and he probably owed him some favors. He had not understood anything at his age and with so much money. Money is behind anything dirty !
Return of favors and mercies, covering mouths and gaining support become the target. Here nobody talk about serving, almost anyone, and less people just serve the community.
You can not say those kind of things at certain ages, it is symptomatic.
And so many, many, have just small targets, pretty ridiculous, not including the simple goal of serving somebody.
"Vanitas vanitatum sed omnia vanitas"
The truth is that the winner of the Oscar, the real one, is the person who makes a good service all day and every day.
Those who have clear goals are bad and this is why they are so useful. At least you know what to do and to eradicate them become a target. Success is not the main objective.
Albert Einstein got it "the most important reason to work in school and in life is the pleasure in working, pleasure in the results and the knowledge of the value of the result to the community"
Why we do not listen to the wise people?
