Regarding  gifts and skills you can not have everything. You have to share something.

Zinedine Zidane, had a good taste as a player, delicacy, touch of class. He have it now to choose players  and not everything is about money. Don Santiago Bernabeu had a similar gift, not as an exquisite player, not the same personal touch. Probably the combination of the two would be perfect. The  perfect casting director.

I mean, who can become a Real Madrid player? Now we know Higuain, Albiol, Callejón, Carvallo and Essien have left the team. All good players. Some have been around longer than others; some arrived very young and others came already with experience. But the point is to have the DNA of Madrid and detect it. Just because you belong to Castilla you do not get it , as the false gurus are proclaiming. There is not inoculation in your blood. That was the bar set in the late 40s,  inside every stone in the Bernabeu stadium and in every word of the team anthem.

Real Madrid DNA. Of course you have to know how to play football and have the characteristics of the modern footballer (this is perhaps the easiest point, to detect. Because thousands of eyes are watching them). You have to be smart in the field and off; with character, noble and warlike; sense of honor, tireless fighter; generous; you have to like playing soccer in Chamartin, go through the tunnel and think that's the most, to feel emotion. To see that this is just a game and a football club, but proving it in every gesture, no chatter; no stage fright or foolish, be a good fellow. Continuity in the game, in every game and enjoy it. There is no requirement to be Spaniard. Those are players that, if they are joining the club young,who spend more than 10 years on board, if no injuries or other accidents happend.

Of the current remaining players only some have the authentic / full DNA: CR7, Varane, Alonso. I think Isco and Yllarra. Ramos almost . 

At another level yet, certainly Carvajal, Kedhira, Lopez and Modric, with different nuances .

There are some like Ozil, Marcelo, Coentrao, Pepe, Di Maria and Benzema which is a question of character , different characters, personalities, aspects that fail to polish . They have quality, a lot, but it is not enough. Unknowns with pretty good future are Casimiro, Morata and Jesé. Of those with good looking the history is full of exemples. Arbeloa is just a good worker.

For me Casillas has not a complete DNA  and I know that it will sound anathema. It is a matter of his qualities and place in the field. Although he has been very lucky. Kaká was never a DNA complete, Real Madrid's Brazilian players never had, except R. Carlos.

And Bale ? I'm afraid he does, but it is very expensive. Why not wait another year?

To make a championship team, CHAMPION, you need at least 6 or 7 DNAs true and complete, as is the competition in Europe and Spain.

Do not get  angry. In the past they have been players with this DNA and they are being born in our days too.
