Indeed it is. In the fifteenth century took place the facts on which the eternal work is based, when Europe was not an example of democracy, yet. There was an abuse of power. In our days the idea still remains the highest aspiration.
During those years, with the kings of Europe converted in absolute monarchs, when transparency was not even a concept; there was not internet, not antibiotics, not manned or unmanned aircraft or genetic medicine, not energy of nuclear fission, not phones, not television; people howled for justice as the most precious aim. That people, wise and intuitive, was able to discern between the main things and the accessory ones.
A king, all-powerful ruler then, was asked to be fair and wise. It should also be prudent, courageous, intellectual, pragmatic and much more, but mostly fair.
Already in Greek democracy without justice could not be possible to govern, because injustice is the essence of all evil.
The justification of crazy behavior, comes at times because a situation of injustice has being created, inadmissible and unacceptable. At those times when the muses inspired the genius of Lope, sixteenth century and early seventeenth centuries, the peasant, the soldier, the artisan, bowed to his king; all looked at his face and accepted if they saw justice for his actions. The King responded.
In the kingdom of Spain existed the position of King Justice. The Chief Justice of Aragon or Castile, beautiful names, denoting the importance of the matter, a servant could turn demanding justice.
The People, the Spaniards, did not ask in fact for power in Lope's drama, called for justice in public or private affairs. Bad business is not to give justice to the people and worst when people feel, that the Government seems to not listen when people speaks of injustice.
Another great man, Quevedo, told us "where injustice grows is really dangerous to be right." In the middle of the crisis, with already congenital absence of political and social leaders, the people demand justice. No justice, no democracy
Do not get angry, please.
